Place smashed garlic in medium size fondue pot. In a small bowl, whisk beer and cornstarch until there are no lumps. Pour into fondue pot. Once beer starts to warm, stir in dry mustard and slowly add shredded cheese. Stir continuously until cheese is melted and smooth. Remove garlic, add fresh ground pepper. Serve immediately.
Serve with soft pretzel nuggets, apple slices and grilled knockwurst or sausage.
