
Grilled Halloumi Gyros with Tahini Salad
If you haven’t tried imported Halloumi yet you’re in for a treat! This dense, mildly flavored cheese takes on a gorgeous char on the grill and swaps in for meat in your favorite gyros.
Ingredients
- 2, 8 oz blocks imported Halloumi cheese
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2 pitas warmed
- 1 cup lettuce
- 1/2 cup sliced tomato
- 1/2 cup sliced mixed peppers
- 1/4 cup sliced red onion
- Fresh dill and parsley for garnish
Tahini Drizzle
- 1/4 cup tahini paste
- 1-2 TB water
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Coat a grill or grill pan with cooking spray and heat over high heat. Sprinkle imported Halloumi with cumin and smoked paprika and season to taste with salt and pepper. Grill on all sides for 1-2 minutes or until charred and warmed through. Slice into wedges.
- Mix together Tahini Drizzle ingredients.
- Layer warm pita with vegetables and sliced grilled imported Halloumi. Serve with Tahini Drizzle and garnished with fresh herbs.
