
Crispy imported Halloumi Fries with Spicy Harissa Pepper Dipping Sauce
If you haven’t tried it yet, imported Halloumi is a delicious addition to your cheese game! Its lightly salty flavor and firm texture makes it perfect for grilling or deep frying as we do here in this fun twist on your favorite happy hour snack. An easy spicy dipping sauce is the perfect contrast to all that crunch.
Ingredients
Dipping Sauce
- 1 cup jarred roasted peppers rinsed and drained
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 TB harrissa paste or swap in 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 TB olive oil
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
Halloumi Fries
- Canola oil for frying
- 1 lb imported Halloumi cut into 16, 1/4” wide fries
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Puree together all dipping sauce ingredients in a blender or mini chop. Adjust seasonings to taste. Heat canola oil in a deep frying pan to 350 degrees. Arrange flour, egg, and panko in 3 shallow bowls. Dredge halloumi in flour, then egg, then panko and fry, working in batches, for 2-3 minutes or until crispy and well browned. Enjoy warm with dipping sauce
