It’s Valentine’s Day and time for celebrating those you love.  For many of us this holiday conjures images of red roses, heart shaped boxes of chocolate, and candle lit dinners out at a high end restaurant.  While we’re all for showering your special someone with love, why not try a different approach…especially if your sweetie happens to be a cheese lover!  This Valentine’s Day skip the overpriced, often crowded, prix fixe reservation and make a romantic dinner at home instead.  Here are some easy ideas they’ll love:

Set the Stage

Decide where you’ll be hosting your dinner and do a little advance setup.  Clear the work clutter off your rarely-used dining room table or if you don’t have a dining room you can also set up a small folding table with a pretty tablecloth in a new spot in your home to change things up.  Plan to dim the lights and rely on candles instead. Break out your nicer dishes and serving pieces and don’t forget to grab some flowers for a centerpiece.  Be sure to cut and arrange them in a short vase or even a few small drinking glasses so you can easily see over them.  Lastly, put together a fun playlist “mixtape style” of songs that will make you both smile.

Cozy Shareable Apps

Get your dinner started with a bottle of bubbly and some interactive, shareable snacks.  Our easy Skillet Fondue for Two is the perfect choice with its blend of imported Gruyere, Swiss, and Brie cheeses. Or you can go for a romantic twist on a basic baked Brie with our clever Grilled Camembert with Cherry Compote. It’s simple to make on the stovetop with a grill pan and gives major Valentine’s vibes.

A Pasta Lovers Dream

Whether you’re conjuring the iconic movie Roman Holiday or the sweet spaghetti sharing scene in Lady and the Tramp; there’s no denying the romance in sharing cozy bowls of pasta with someone you love.  Try our easy, One Pan Cacio e Pepe for two to enjoy a true Roman classic. Just three basic ingredients of grated imported Pecorino Romano, black pepper, and pasta cooking water combine to make a magically luscious sauce.  If you know you’ll be having a busy day we have a fantastic make-ahead dish for you! Our Lamb Bolognese with Grana Padano can be cooked up to 2-3 days before.  Just warm the bolognese sauce and toss with freshly cooked pasta.  Finally, for a glamorous and special pasta dinner try our rich, creamy Lobster Pasta with imported Fromager de Affinois – it’s a high end, French bistro inspired take on basic mac and cheese.  Just add a simple salad and your dinner is ready!
